So beautiful and bright tonight
Our ever-moving satellite
Up above our atmosphere
How far it is from there to here.
It watches over near and far
No matter how far apart we are
If everyone just raised their eyes
and focused out upon the skies
We’d see how small this planet is
When such illumination comes from this
One celestial body, seen within the stars
Just orbiting this Earth of ours.
The night no longer seems so dark
When our hemisphere ignites a spark
Of kinship that exists because
It’s our tiny spot in the Cosmos.
We’re bonded by light that shines
Upon this tiny part of space and time
Wherein all mankind exist and breathe
Whatever your perception is
Of why we’re here and what it’s worth
To ruminate upon the truth
And argue fact or fiction’s true
It cannot ever change the view
That radiates from every eye
That looks up tonight into the sky
And sees the moonlight flood the ground
A peace within the heart is found.
