Now looking back when I was young
With dreams undreamt and songs unsung
A heart and soul that seemed afire
So much to see and do, if I’d just had more
Time to linger there………..
I sometimes wonder where they’ve gone
And why so many floundered on, the
Sea of Life, whose current strong,
Washed away my plans and schemes
Against the rocks of broken dreams.
Take heed this warning, and my advice
When opportunity knocks, don’t think twice,
You aren’t aware of how brief it is
How youth, vitality, fade like mist
On a summer’s morn’, like dew on grass
So grab each and every exciting chance
To be happy, sated, fulfil your goals
Then when you’re old and spent like me
Your memories they all will be
Of dreams you’ve dreamed and songs you’ve
sung
Mountains you’ve climbed and races won,
Most of all be free of strife, and learn to love
and live your life,
To regret nothing you’ve done in days of yore,
But then you’d never wanted more
If in hindsight wasn’t right for you
All life’s experience keeps you true.
