In Praise of a Forever Friend – Happy Birthday Lisa!

We’ve shared so many memories through all life’s ups
and downs,
My happiest and saddest times have all been when you’re
around.
We’ve grown up together and had special times galore
Discovered life in all its hues, understanding each other
more.
Sharing, laughter, sometimes pain has only served to
make us strong,
And experiences through the years, bonded us until
I knew that you belong,
To an elite little echelon and together we’ll fight on.
We’ll always be together as we understand each
other’s quirks,
There are things and so much more which ensure our
friendship works –
That we share not just a sense of humour but something
deeper still,
The frustration born of broken rigid bodies that no longer bend to our Will.
That disappoint and irritate but to soldier on we must
To give up is not an option, our stubbornness unites us thus.
I was watching you this evening as we enjoyed our yum repast
How it’s always been the same and that’s why our friendship’s built to last.

With your hair of spun gold and your lovely eyes of
clearest green
A complex, sharp artistic mind that never sleeps nor rests within,
Creative, endlessly patient, you are funny, strong and true
Loyal, pragmatic, you are always there for me – as I will be for you.
You have a way of sorting through the all the chaos
and enabling me to see
That everything that’s wrong (or right!) doesn’t begin and end
with me!!
That life within this muddled, sometimes very convoluted
‘psych’
Can be made so much simpler if only sometimes that I might
Just calm my anxious spirit, and rest my ever-burdened soul,
Sort through the chaotic, sometimes chasm-like black hole
that from whence all my good sense has trickled out
Leaving only fear, trepidation and so much silly self doubt.
When every reason that I might have is jumbled up with fear
And any good sense I’ve possessed sadly no longer
resides there.
To have that unique and strong connection with someone
else,
Who understands your very essence now that really
is true wealth
Beyond rubies, gold or diamonds, it’s an implicit,
innate trust

That exists between we two – and is why I feel I must
Try to articulate these feelings and attempt to now
impart,

Your very special place that’s held down deep within my heart.
So here’s to our uncertain future, my lovely, special Lisa
Ruth
And to so much more fun and laughter with you and
Dr John –
The kind we’ve shared we’ve shared since our youth.
and therefore the kind that will live on
Through how ever many weeks, months, even years that on this
planet we reside upon.
And so I conclude this (somewhat lengthy) predictably impassioned rhyme,
In praise of of a friend – and to say I’m happy that you’re
mine!
